Most skill books come in three volumes, which correspond to the three trios of levels you can attain, though they can only be read once you know the skill exists. Across the top, you can click the hammer button so you filter the books list to show only skill books. If you interact with a bookcase, you can select the “Purchase Books.” interaction. If your Sim is not in a position to work on his skills, he can always read a book instead. You can see a Sim's progress on his skills in the Skills Panel of the interface. All Skills have a maximum of Level 10, and there can be no further study after the Sim achieves it. ![]() Unlike previous versions of The Sims, there is no “Level Zero” with Skills: if your Sim knows the skill at all, he'll start at Level 1. The complete Sims 4 Skills List can be found below. All skills gain rates can be boosted if the Sim is experiencing a particular Emotion. Gaining a level means the Sim will perform that action better, succeed more, and generally gain additional actions based on that skill. Working on the skill fills a progress bar that appears above your Sim's head, and when it fills, the Sim gains a level in that skill. Generally skills are gained by performing the actions associated with it: cooking a meal increases the Cooking skill, repairing stuff increases the Handiness skill, and so on. ![]() ![]() Need help increasing your Skill?
